“Hello everyone on Transbeauté,

This is Jennifer here, and today, I want to share something special with you.

Recently, following the publication of my article “Body Language: The Key to Radiant Femininity in 2024?“, a comment from Claude, one of our many readers, captured the very essence of what I aspire to create with my blog: a space for expression, learning, and support.

As a professional makeup artist and advisor, my goal is to accompany transgender and cross-dressing women on their journey of femininity.

Claude’s comment is a precious gem in this journey, reflecting not only her personal experience as a transgender woman but also the strength and diversity of who you all are.

Claude, this is for you!

Introduction to the practice of body language by Claude

These tips are essential.

How to put them into practice?

It takes work and learning.

Torso posture: A starting point

First point: the posture of the torso.

You need to brace it, meaning to use your muscles, especially the obliques.

The abdominals also participate.

Practical exercise: Positioning yourself in front of a mirror

To see how it works, stand in profile in front of a mirror.
Try to lengthen yourself at the torso.
You need to find how to engage the muscles that will allow you to gain one or two centimeters in the height of the shoulders.
This isn’t necessarily instinctive when it comes to muscles we aren’t used to consciously using.

Refining posture: shoulders and chest

Working on this posture will lead you to slightly pull your shoulders back and push your chest forward.

The movement must clearly come from bracing the torso which moves the shoulders, not the other way around.

Walking and movement: Let the music play!

Next, try walking with this posture, taking relatively small steps and maintaining flexibility. Your walk should stay natural. No need to imitate a runway star by crossing your feet, you risk falling, especially in heels, and no woman walks like that on the street. It’s also necessary to have a bit of rhythm in this movement. Following a rhythm will make you more rigorous in controlling the movement, ensure regularity and help develop an automatic, smooth fluidity. So music! Tina Turner – Let’s stay together is perfect.

Hip sway: The subtlety of movement

Once this is mastered, you can move on: the hip sway. Place the heel down first with each step. Once it’s down, let the hip on the same side flow outward. In daily life, this should be light, subtle, and fluid.

Arm position: the importance of detail

The arms should hang naturally along the body, straight, not bent at the elbows to avoid looking like John Wayne ready to draw.
If your shoulders are forward, it’s a total disaster.

Adding a step: Shoulder movement and coordination

Let’s add a step.
This involves adding a forward shoulder movement with the shoulder opposite the hip and foot that just landed. Same note as before: in some contexts, you can emphasize this, but daily it should be very light, nearly imperceptible.

Fluidity and Automation

Finally, all this must be fluid, automatic, and become natural. This is not innate, even for many women. In a seated position, torso posture follows the same principle. And all this with a smile, even a slight one, looking straight ahead. A smile minimizes the masculine character of the face.
