This is an article many of you have been waiting for.
And I know this because this question comes up often during my studio sessions:
"Jennifer, when I cross-dress, how can I truly make my beard disappear?"
Some have chosen a radical solution—permanent beard removal—and that’s a wonderful path if you’re ready.
But for those who only want to embrace their femininity occasionally, or who also enjoy returning to their male identity, it’s not a suitable option.
So here are my 5 simple, effective, and temporary tips to hide your beard and achieve flawless makeup, with ease.
Each time, I’ll tell you exactly what to ask for in stores if you’re not familiar with the terms, and I’ll recommend some products.
Welcome to the feminine world of makeup!

Before talking about makeup, let’s start with the essential: a perfect shave. This is the foundation—I say it every time: a clean shave is mandatory.
Remove all visible hair and smooth the skin so makeup adheres perfectly.
• Use a high-quality shaving foam or gel (avoid low-end foams that dry out the skin).
• Shave after a hot shower to open the pores.
• Shave in the direction of hair growth, then against it if your skin can tolerate it.
• Finish with a cold water rinse (to close the pores) and a soothing cream (Avène, La Roche-Posay).
What’s important: a very gentle and precise razor for a clean shave without irritation.
• Gillette SkinGuard Sensitive
• Philips OneBlade Face & Body
Normally, this is "your domain."
A clean base is already half the work done.
Even when shaved, the beard can leave a bluish-gray shadow.
Foundation alone won’t be enough to cover it all: you need to neutralize this tint with a color corrector.
Cancel out the blue tone under the skin with an opposite shade (orange or pink).
“A cream corrector in orange or pink to neutralize beard shadow.”
Ask the advisor—she’ll immediately know which color to recommend.
Don’t be surprised if she suggests green… it exists too!
• L.A. Girl HD Pro Conceal – Orange Corrector
• MAC Studio Finish Skin Corrector – Pure Orange (darker skin) or Pale Pink (fair skin)
• Kryolan Dermacolor Camouflage – D30 or D32 (professional stores)
• Use a beauty blender or the beard concealer stick.
• Gently dab only on the beard area (chin, upper lip, lower cheeks).
• Don’t try to cover completely—the goal is to correct the tone, not to mask.
👉 You visually remove the shadow without adding thickness.
You’re already making great progress.

After correcting the color, unify your entire face with a fluid, full-coverage yet natural foundation.
Achieve an even complexion without heaviness.
“A medium-coverage liquid foundation with a natural or semi-matte finish.”
• Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup
• Make Up For Ever HD Skin Foundation
• L’Oréal Infallible 24H Fresh Wear
• Use a slightly damp Beauty Blender sponge (not the same one used for the beard concealer).
• Apply a thin first layer all over your face.
• Dab a second layer only on areas where the shadow persists.
👉 Your face is unified, your skin breathes, and the makeup lasts all day.
The foundation is on, but it needs to be set to last and prevent the shadow from reappearing during the day. That’s where you apply the mattifying powder.
Mattify, enhance longevity, and add a touch of light coverage.
“A tinted loose powder with light coverage.”
• Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder – Honey shade
• Ben Nye Luxury Powder – Banana or Topaz
• Use a powder brush.
• Generously pat the powder onto the beard area.
• Let it sit for 1 minute, then gently sweep away the excess.
👉 Your complexion becomes matte, flawless, and incredibly soft to the touch.
This is the pro touch for a zero-flaw complexion.
If you still see a shadow, this final layer perfects everything. It’s the pro touch for a flawless complexion.
Blur any remaining imperfections and stabilize the makeup.
“A compact powder foundation with good coverage.”
• MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
• Maybelline SuperStay 24H Hybrid Powder Foundation
• Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation
• Use a foam or velour powder puff (e.g., Real Techniques or MAC).
• Press lightly on the concerned areas (chin, lips, cheeks).
👉 Your complexion is even, the shadow is completely erased, and the result remains light.
Your makeup can now begin!

There you have it—you’ve just discovered the very first step to then apply your makeup.
Your base is now perfect. Your face is ready. And most importantly…
You are ready to express yourself.
But before moving on to makeup, let me tell you this:
This ritual is not just a beauty routine.
It’s first and foremost a moment for you. A gentle, intimate, and sincere way to connect with your image—your image, unfiltered, without judgment.
It’s important that you feel what you’re doing.
That each gesture, each product applied, becomes a form of listening to yourself.
Makeup is not a mask.
It’s a living, sensitive, fluid expression of who you are inside.
It’s a silent language that tells the world how you feel within, how you want to be seen, loved, and respected.
To put on makeup is also to say to yourself, “I see myself, I recognize myself, I choose myself.”
And if you want to learn these gestures by my side, if you want to find the products that truly suit you—tailored to your face, your energy, and your desires of the moment—I’m here.
With respect, patience… and always with pleasure.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to be aligned with your reflection.
