For four enriching years, I have had the honor and immense pleasure of supporting Roxanne in her Trans identity journey. It is an experience both intimate and deeply personal.

With Transbeauté, I created a space of trust, kindness, and safety.

A space where Roxanne can explore and express her femininity, while navigating a world where she chooses to keep this aspect of her life somewhat hidden.

Our journey together has been a blend of support, attentive listening, and learning, sometimes mutual.

This has allowed Roxanne to develop precious autonomy while respecting the nuances of her unique situation.

It is a relationship that goes far beyond a simple client relationship; it is a true connection based on understanding, listening, and unconditional support from me.

The Transformative Power of Makeup in Roxanne’s Transidentity

How does makeup help you explore and express your femininity during your sessions here? And what does this mean to you personally?

I do my makeup in my car, in an underground parking lot. While applying makeup, I calmly become Roxanne and leave the boy behind to become the girl I have always dreamed of.

There is a magical side to makeup that also allows me, in my mind, to become Roxanne, to be another person.

Jennifer, you gave me techniques to do my makeup and to correct certain gestures that I wasn’t doing properly. You advised me on the products to buy.

Obviously, the result with you is much better than what I achieve on my own.

It motivates me to improve with the goal of being elegant, pretty to look at if possible.

Finding Balance: Roxanne’s Secret Life and Feminine Expression

You chose to keep this aspect of your identity discreet from your family. How do you manage the balance between your feminine expression and your daily life?

I decided to keep this feminine life a secret for several reasons. I am married and have children and several grandchildren. They are adorable. I don’t want to risk seeing them less if my family learned about Roxanne.

For me, it is the balance between my need for femininity and the constraints I set for myself.
So, I have no feminine clothes or items at home. I keep all my wardrobe and makeup in a storage unit, and I change and do my makeup in my car.

I am retired, but I have kept volunteer activities that give me opportunities to go out alone in Paris.

For some time now, I have joined a senior association helping students. This allows me to have, as a woman, working relationships with students and discussions with other members of the association.

I have never received unpleasant remarks, nor felt awkwardness from anyone so far. I even made good girlfriends…

The Evolution of Roxanne’s Feminine Expression at the Transbeauté Studio

How has your understanding and expression of your feminine side evolved over the four years since you started visiting Transbeauté?

Shortly after our first meetings and the feeling that I could go out in the city during the day, I took the step to go out alone.

My heart was pounding the first few times, but at the same time, I felt an immense inner joy. A well-being quite hard to put into words.

And when I took off my makeup and changed in the evening, I just wanted to start again. I grew bolder, little by little. I approached others to chat whenever the opportunity arose. My skirts have shortened a bit too, and the happiness of going out is still present.

I was lucky to meet a (cross-dressing) friend. She has become very important over time, and we go out regularly in Paris (shopping, museums…).

From a first phase of discovery and excitement, I gradually evolved to have other life experiences as a woman. I feel a great sense of fulfillment, which convinces me to continue.

Advice for Transgender People at the Beginning of Their Journey

What advice would you share with other crossdressers who might be at the beginning of their own self-exploration journey? Or who might feel isolated or unsupported in their experience?

I would refrain from giving advice. On one hand, we don’t have the same life experience at 20, 40, or 60, and each of us has different goals, needs, or constraints.

One must search deep inside oneself to find what one really desires. Ask yourself: how does this fit into your life and that of your loved ones, and act accordingly.

I moved forward step by step, enjoying every moment of happiness that I gathered.

I understand that for some this is not enough, but it is my choice between my family life and my feminine life.

Thank you, Roxanne!

Reflecting on these four years spent alongside Roxanne, I am moved by the incredible progress she has made.

Thanks to our journey together at the Transbeauté Studio, Roxanne has not only learned the art of makeup, but she has especially gained autonomy by affirming her femininity with confidence and elegance.

The four years of supporting Roxanne showcase the strength that lies in autonomy and personal expression, even in the most delicate situations.

At the Transbeauté Studio, Roxanne has not only learned how to do her makeup and present herself as she wishes, but she has also found her balance between her identity and the realities of her daily life.

This autonomy has allowed her to confidently navigate both worlds, enriching her life in a way that respects both her personal needs and her family and social environment.

Roxanne’s story perfectly illustrates how empathetic and personalized support can encourage a person to flourish while respecting the most private aspects of their identity.

Editor's note: Roxanne came to the studio a few years ago. You will find her evolution in her photo album.

Leave her a comment; it is one of the best encouragements you can give her!
